Shoescape Installation - Ottawa - 2009
Shoescape was created while Monique Martin, children’s educator/artist was artist-in-residence at the Bytown Museum in Ottawa, Canada. Building on an understanding of our environmental and heritage footprints children were asked to decorate a recycled shoe with their interpretation of the footprint theme. Shoes were collected from second hand stores. The shoes were unusable by the stores as they were either too worn out or they received only one shoe in donation. Monique Martin worked with 1000 children to create the art shoes and then to created a public installation in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. Two parks were filled with the shoes. The poster was created for the exhibition in Ottawa. |
