Fish on the Prairies

2010-2011

<>

This installation of over 300 fish is a Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation project under the direction of Monique Martin.

The fish on this fence are silhouettes of salmon, even though salmon are not native to the prairies.
The lifecycle of the salmon can be compared to our faith. The salmon return to the same stream
during their lifecycle just as we turn to our faith time and time again

The children of Georges Vanier learn about their faith and establish roots in their faith
so that they can come back to it in times of challenge and in the times of joy. They also can live
their faith through prayer and public service. This project reaches out to “Transform the World”
by creating another visual symbol of our faith, for the children and the community.
